We are trying to raise as much money as we can to go towards the restoration of the Avro Lancaster NX611 “Just Jane” which is located at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre - this is the plane you can see Dad sitting in on the welcome page of this website.
Lincolnshire Aviation have been restoring this plane for many years now and intend to restore it to an airworthy condition.
For Dad’s 60th Birthday present we bought him a VIP Day at Lincolnshire Aviation where he got to experience the Lancaster inside and out including a taxy ride down the grass runway with all four merlin engines running whilst sitting in the rear gunner position - he absolutely loved this experience and vowed that he would love to get to see this fantastic plane restored.
Unfortunately, he never got to see this dream fulfilled, but we did return to Lincolnshire Aviation earlier this year where we scattered his ashes behind the Lancaster Bomber with its engines on full, certainly an experience we will never forget, and I am sure he would have approved of!
In his memory we are trying to raise as much money as possible so that we can donate to the restoration in his name, and hopefully one day be able ourselves to see it flying again.
More details on the restoration project can be found on the following pages:-
If you would like to donate in Richard’s name then you can do so via the donations page below, or if you prefer to donate via cash, cheque, bank transfer or PayPal then please contact us using details on this page.
I hope you all agree that this is a worthwhile cause, and that you will help us to achieve Richard’s dream.
