Flt Lt Rex Waters - New Zealand Bomber Command Association

Rex Waters, featured at the final luncheon of Bomber Command Association New Zealand in our Spring magazine, died in February this year. He was a Lancaster Skipper with 9 Squadron, flying on at least one of the Tirpitz raids. 9 Sqn also often flew on ops with 617 Sqn. Returning from one op, he was forced to make an emergency landing with flak damage to the hydraulics, which meant the undercarriage wouldn’t come down. Everyone got out safely. He became a Dairy Farmer after the war.
