Pilot Officer P. G. Nash - 223 Sqn, RAF Oulton, 100 Group, Bomber Command
Sadly, we have just lost another 223 Squadron veteran, Pilot Officer P. G. Nash. His daughter Barbara Nash emailed to say that George died on Saturday 5th May aged nearly 94 years.
George was the 2nd Pilot in the crew of Squadron Leader R. E. C. McKnight, Officer Commanding of A Flight. He arrived at RAF Oulton on 31 August 1944. Promoted to Temporary Flight Sergeant on 28 November 1944, he flew on all but one of the crew’s operational Liberator sorties. The crew flew their final Liberator op on the night of 28 Feb/1 March 1945, a Window Patrol to Lake Constance. They then converted to the Fortress and completed two more ops. This brought George’s ops total to 32. He was commissioned as a Pilot Officer on 27 February 1945.
